Direct from Broadway's smash hit Motown: The Musical, in which the New York Post calls her “electrifying” in the role of Mary Wells, N'Kenge has been praised by critics for her show-stopping performances. N'Kenge made her Broadway debut in Sondheim on Sondheim performing alongside Vanessa Williams and Barbara Cook, and has performed worldwide in concerts and with symphonies. A native New Yorker, N'Kenge is a graduate of the Juilliard School and the Manhattan School of Music. The New York Times called N'Kenge a “classically trained diva that can span from Opera to Broadway pop-soul” when she made her Carnegie Hall debut with the New York Pops Orchestra. N'Kenge has given over 100 solo recitals through the Columbia Artists Community Concert Series, including singing at festivals such as Tanglewood and the Aspen Music Festival.
This season, N'Kenge will take a break from her Broadway schedule to be a featured soloist with both the Indianapolis Symphony and the Naples Philharmonic. Opera News has raved about her “over-the-top performance.” N'Kenge has been seen in principal roles with New York City Opera, Israel Opera, Virginia Opera and Opera Estate in Rome, Italy, to name a few.
N'Kenge has performed alongside jazz greats such as Wynton Marsalis and Ornette Coleman at Lincoln Center. She had the honor to perform for the Commander-in-Chief's Inaugural Ball hosted by President Obama. For more info on tours and recordings, please visit N'Kenge at www.nkengemusic.com.
