Soprano Leslie Schipa hails from an operatic family. The great niece of renowned tenor Tito Schipa, Leslie started her operatic career in New York City with New York Grand Opera. She has traveled extensively, performing in over 40 operas on 3 continents and in 7 countries. She has appeared with many companies, including Sarasota Opera, Dicapo Opera Theater, Pacific Opera Project, International Opera Theater, Hudson Opera Theater, and National Lyric Opera. Though successful as a mezzo-soprano, performing many roles including Elizabeth Proctor in The Crucible and Nicklausse in Les Contes d'Hoffmann, Leslie's voice has developed into what she calls a full lyric soprano with dramatic intentions. This year she will perform Rosalinda in Die Fledermaus at Pasadena City College, Knusperhexe in Hänsel und Gretel with Portland Summer Opera Workshop, and Brünnhilde in Die Walküre with Verismo Opera in Vallejo, California.
