Valhalla Productions is dedicated to supporting the production of the great works of the operatic repertoire in small venues. Our aims are twofold: to bring these masterpieces into intimate surroundings where the audience can experience their performance live and close up, and to provide young singers with the opportunity to learn and perfect roles normally available only to well-established singers in the largest international opera houses.
In 2013 we produced Die Walküre, the second part of Richard Wagner's epic cycle Der Ring des Nibelungen, for Verismo Opera and the Mira Theatre Guild of Vallejo, California. In 2016 we produced the third part, Siegfried, jointly with VOICES/SF in two venues, the Cubberley Community Center Theatre in Palo Alto, and the Diego Rivera Theatre on the campus of City College of San Francisco.
This year, we co-produced with Island City Opera of Alameda a double bill of Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov's two one-act operas, Mozart and Salieri (in an original English translation) and Kashchey bessmertnïy (Kashchey the Immortal), the latter in its critically acclaimed American premiere.
